In addition to being a "sister mark" to Hope Chapel's primary logo, the idea with this comes from City of Greensboro's nick-name: The Gate City. Greensboro originally adopted this name because of it's central location in North Carolina and because it served as a hub for shipping and transportation. But as we thought about the social issues in Greensboro, the idea of a "gate" became significant for different reasons. Whether a gate is open or closed is a very powerful symbol of either embrace or exclusion. In it's mission to work toward social change (specifically through providing food to those who are food-insecure), Project Hope imagines the gates being swung wide and welcoming all inside.
